These hatchets are true Damascus blades hand made by forging 1095 & 15N20 carbon steels folded over each other forming 256 layers or more resulting in a stunning blade pattern. Damascus steel blades are renowned for there toughness and long endurance. with a Rockwell hardness of 58 to 60 handmade, durable and unique. These Damascus blades are made from high quality non-stainless steels which rival or exceed any Damascus blade made from the 10 series with 4340. Because of the high carbon content these blades need to be regularly treated with wax or 3 in 1 oil stored dry and oiled to prevent rust and maintain its superior quality.
